Happy 2009 to you all, let’s hope it’s a good one for Health, Wealth and Peace.

Just a quick round up to show my holiday progress of what I have been knitting, not much to show but for my slow standards good progress has been made on Holidazed . Sock one has now been completed

I also yesterday cast on for another pair of socks with STR, I noticed a Kal in the Socks That Rawk group on Ravelry and decided to join in especially as the pattern had been in my queue to knit for a while and what better way then being in part of a group. So here we have

Pattern: Leyburn Socks

Shade: Foofaraw

Needles: 2.5mm knitpick dpns

I am making this pattern as toe-up and short row toe shaping the pattern on the sock itself is a rather interesting lattice effect where the yarn is stranded across small intervals of the work. First time I have come across this stitch pattern and is very enjoyable to make and does look quite effective with the variagated yarn

Anyway enough talking and more knitting now as every minute of the holidays counts

French Navy Lacey Socks

Here is my latest pair of socks that I knitted and finished in December

Simply Lovely Lace Socks

Yarn Rowan Wool Cotton French Navy Shade no 909

Approx 1.5 balls

Needles 3mm dpn’s

A lovely simple lace pattern which on 3mm needles knit’s up really fast, I did a slightly deeper heel flap than what was stated on the pattern but i find this has resulted in a lovely tight snug fitting sock.

My next pair I am making is the Sixth and final kit from this year’s The Socks That Rock Club. The pattern is titled Holidazed and is knitting in a yarn titled Muddy Autumn Rainbow which is a rather lovely mix of red,pinks,greens and gold which has a rather lovely Christmas appeal. It actually looks better in my opinion knitted up than in the skein

I am rather hoping to have these finished before the arrival of the first kit of 2009 which I expect to arrive towards the end of January. I have joined the STR Club yet again which shall be my third year, of course the joining didn’t come without the usual complications of getting payment through the system , something which a lot of people were having trouble with, The signing up on the 15th December caused headaches for the Blue Moon Team as the system couldn’t cope with so many in one go trying to make payments and rushing to join up , A few days later though, all was sorted, and I am in for another year I can hardly wait for the next kit to arrive

This pattern and yarn was the third kit of the 2007 Rockin’ Sock Club and is one my favourites, The pattern had the option of either toe-up or cuff down, I chose the toe-up so to get the most out of the full skein of yarn.

These turned out a little large and bulky to wear with ordinary boots, so I tend to use these as house socks and are lovely warm and bright for those chillier days
